MY FIRST HEART ATTACK
I was playing soccer in 2009 with two
boys in my neighborhood. When I finish to play the game I felt me bad in
my stomach. Drinking milk I believed I will felt me better. I believe
it was something easily. I vomited and
the pain was more and more hard. My wife, son and daughter carry me to
the San Rafael Hospital. Santa Tecla. They were very nervous and in the family car
took my to the hospital. The pain was terrible and hard. I have to had a
file waiting for the doctor. I had to go to bed in a chair wheel. At
bed the nurse gave me 3 aspirin, another pill under the tongue and a
number 3 pill I don’t know for what.
I wake up like nothing the
following day. I called house . My wise surprised for mi calling.
Perhaps I have to die. The nurse scolded me because I have gone to the
shop buying something to eat.
I have had suffered an attack to my
heart. I have to be in Hospital 5 days. Exams, pills, electrocardiograms
in a dormitory of 100 beds. The patients crying, shouting. It was some
of my days more terrible of my life.
I began to investigate what is a
infart. I have check my heat to know what had happened.
Electrocardiograms. Carliolist Dr. Cuellar took care of me.
Infarction. The heart is a muscle of the
human body is called myocardium. The myocardium is responsible for
pumping blood throughout the body. The heart begins to work when the
baby is in the womb and stops beating at the time of death of humans. In
the course of life can suffer diseases such as angina pectoris,
arrhythmia, heart attack. Today medical science is so advanced that
helps patients improve every disease of the heart.
After my
hospitalization General Dr. saw my EKG and said, "You still have things
to do down here on Earth." She referred me to cardiologist. I have had to go home in heaven.
The
cardiologist Dr. Cuellar took the respective check and scared I said
it wrong. The heart is very weak. The infarction was extensive. I do not
know how you would after another heart attack, he said. He suggested the
following medical check-heart catheterization. Exploratory check to see
what had happened to the heart. Through Teachers' Welfare succeeded
catheterization I got a with Dr. Giamatei, interventionist. This time in a
private hospital paid for Welfare. A modern hospital: air conditioning,
cable, telephone extension, private bedroom and food staff of the hotel. I din't wat go home now.
The day came when expected. Nurse shaved around my genitals. Entry into
the artery in the groin would be. Eric, my son medical student with me.
It would not be an operation but a scan. Was not surgery. You always
get nervous because it's like surprise box: Anything can go. There were 4
monitors in the room of the intervention: one showing the blood
pressure, another pulse. The interventionist constantly watching the
monitors.
Quiet, Giamatei said. With the punch made a hole in my
skin, reaching the artery where the liquid dye injected that would
enable. The Dr. saw on the monitor as was the coronary artery and heart.
The artery was apachurado - crushed and blood-passed only by 30%. It
would place a stent - had-from inside the artery to restore power to
regulate its thickness so that blood flowing normally. He asked if I was agree. Under tight, resistant to continue implementing 2 of 2 cm. Each. I said
yes. He took the stent and a guide took the two tubes where they were
needed in the artery. This within the coronary artery. He looked at the
monitor where the catheter was in the tube. When I was in the right
place for the burst artery Anchara crushed. Hour and a half took place
stent. I could see from my bed the whole process. They took me to my
room rest when finished put the stent.
Dr.Giamatei visited me
in my room satisfied - looked stressed and happy, and told me a few days
I would feel better. Will I play again?, I asked. Yes He said. This made
me very happy.
Four pins would have to take as a precaution and
helps the heart the rest of my life: aspirinita, enalapril, atenolol.
Besides avoiding fat diet. Exercise to burn excess fat.
6 years
ago I had this experience: I'm not taking pills. I avoid greasy meals.
Exercise: two or three times a week to sweat-BKB, tennis, cycling,
soccer on grass and concrete.
The second attack does not know if it will arrive. Only God knows.
Of a heart attack only 50% survive. The other 50% goes to heaven. The
rest of us have to take life more slowly because the heart is disabled.
It do not works 100% as before. A part of the heart tissue dies and does not
regenerate. I told Dr. Cuellar, I had read in the newspaper that
regenerated heart is posible. The annoying he said. It's like a hose
that goes awry. The water can not pass.
At my age-61 -, say
councilors, I can do the things that children and young people want to do
and can not do for financial reasons or time. Today you can have to
do it. I always wanted to have my bike. Back then my parents could not can buy
me. Today I have withdrawn my new bike. I come and go to Santa Tecla. We
buried my sister Mary Delia of 93 years yesterday ,May 22, 2012 in San
Pedro Nonualco. It means that if I care I can get to that age. I needed
32 years ahead. They are healthy and happy. It is my wish for me and you
reading this story heart.
NOT ONLY HAS THE AMOUNT OF LIFE BUT THE QUALITY OF LIFE.
This is my homework. May 2012. Henry Barillas.
